Longtime Yellow Springs resident and local painting contractor, Ransome Phelps brings a craftsman’s eye for detail and a storyteller’s vision to his artistic photography. Through his prints, Phelps invites viewers to see the world as he experiences it, an interplay of light, texture, and fleeting moments captured in time.
His work reflects both the intimacy of small-town life and the wonder of new landscapes encountered during travel. From quiet corners of Yellow Springs and its surrounding countryside to scenes gathered on recent journeys, his photography is a collection of lived experiences that balance the familiar with the unexpected.
Influenced by years of working with color, composition, and surface, Phelps brings that same intentionality into his art practice. Each image becomes both documentation and interpretation, offering a glimpse into the way he perceives beauty in everyday settings.
Ransome’s prints celebrate place, memory, and perspective, grounded in his roots as a community member, yet open to discovery wherever he goes. His work is an invitation: to pause, to look closer, and to appreciate the subtle artistry found in the world around us.
